Poll Shows French Muslims and Jews Consider Emigrating if Le Pen Wins
Nearly half of Muslims and Jews in France would consider leaving the country if Marine Le Pen wins the 2027 presidential election.
An Ifop survey conducted for Marianne magazine indicates that 46% of Muslims and 44% of Jews living in France would consider emigrating if Marine Le Pen wins the 2027 presidential election. This sentiment is more than double the 21% of the general population expressing similar inclinations.
Among Muslim respondents, 81% believe a victory for the Rassemblement National candidate would increase discrimination against their community, while 27% would consider concealing their religious identity. Le Pen, who officially declared her candidacy on July 7, 2026, currently leads first-round voting intention polls. Her platform focuses on tighter immigration controls and "national priority" regarding employment and housing.
While Le Pen has positioned herself as a protector of the Jewish community against Islamist fundamentalism, the poll shows Jewish respondents share similar fears of leaving the country as Muslims. François Kraus, director of the Politics and Current Affairs division at Ifop, noted that the potential victory of the poll-favored candidate risks creating significant obstacles and generating high levels of insecurity.
