King Abdullah II Condemns Israeli Expansionism and Vows Fight Against Terrorism

King Abdullah II told parliament that Israeli expansionist ambitions threaten regional stability and vowed to remain unyielding against terrorism following a deadly attack in Karak.

During the opening of parliament on Monday, King Abdullah II declared that Israeli expansionist ambitions represent the greatest threat to the future and hopes of the Middle East. He asserted that regional security and stability are unattainable without upholding the Palestinian people's right to their homeland, specifically citing the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and persistent Israeli attacks in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Addressing domestic security, the monarch vowed that Jordan will remain vigilant and unyielding against terrorism. This follows a deadly October attack at the Greek Orthodox St. George’s Church in Karak, where gunmen killed nine people and wounded 34 others. The event marked the deadliest assault on Jordan's Christian minority since the 1950s; authorities have since arrested three Islamic extremists in connection with the massacre.

King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to its Arab identity and the defense of Arab causes, emphasizing the need for a unified Arab position. He also directed the government to prioritize water security and accelerate economic projects to protect national resources.
