China Authorizes 550 Billion Yuan Bond Stimulus Package

The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China authorized provinces to use 550 billion yuan in unspent bond quotas to support economic growth.

The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China authorized provinces to utilize 550 billion yuan ($82 billion) in unspent bond quotas from previous years to support economic growth and meet annual targets.

The stimulus package is divided into two primary categories. General bond quotas totaling 300 billion yuan are intended for the daily spending needs of county-level authorities. An additional 250 billion yuan in special bond quotas is designated for regions with actual project funding needs between October and December.

These special funds will support existing programs and major initiatives, including the Six Networks. The ministry indicated that the allocation of these special bonds will favor provinces with stronger economies.
