Eurozone Bond Yields Rise Ahead of US Inflation Data
Eurozone government bond yields increased as investors awaited U.S. Consumer Price Index data to gauge potential Federal Reserve interest rate hikes in September.
Eurozone government bond yields rose on August 12, 2026, as investors positioned themselves ahead of the release of U.S. Consumer Price Index inflation data. Ten-year Bund yields increased by 1.1 basis points to 3.159%, and ten-year French government bond yields climbed 1.2 basis points to 3.978%.
In the United States, Treasury yields and the dollar remained steady leading up to the 1230 GMT data release. Economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal expect annual inflation to have eased to 3.4% in July, down from 3.5% in June.
Market participants are closely monitoring these figures to predict the next move of the Federal Reserve System. Current pricing indicates approximately a 53% chance that the central bank will implement a 25 basis-point interest rate hike during its September meeting.
