Ontario Liberal Party Holds Leadership Race to Replace Bonnie Crombie

The Ontario Liberal Party is conducting a leadership race to replace Bonnie Crombie, who resigned from her position in January. Four candidates are competing for the leadership: former federal minister Navdeep Bains, MPP Lee Fairclough, community organizer Eric Lombardi, and policy adviser Dylan Morando.

The nomination phase for the race concludes on July 31. The party has scheduled candidate debates for early August at Western University and on August 16 in Kemptville. Membership remains open until September 7, with online ranked-choice voting beginning on November 9 and the final results announcement set for November 21.

The contest takes place against a backdrop of conflicting polling data. A recent Liaison poll indicates the Liberals lead both the New Democratic Party and the governing Progressive Conservatives, while an Abacus poll from mid-June showed the Progressive Conservatives maintaining a nine-point lead.
