Bajaj Finance Shares Rally After Q1 Profit Hits ₹6,081 Crore
Bajaj Finance shares rose up to 6% after the company reported a 28% year-on-year profit increase for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026.
Bajaj Finance reported a consolidated profit after tax of ₹6,081 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, marking a 28 percent year-on-year increase. The result surpassed analyst expectations of ₹5,856 crore. Growth was fueled by strong retail credit demand and a 24 percent increase in assets under management, the fastest growth rate in three quarters. Net interest income rose 23 percent to ₹12,571 crore, and the company's customer franchise expanded by 17 percent to 124.43 million.
To improve asset quality, the company implemented more stringent underwriting and a cautious lending approach for medium- and small-business loans following previous delinquencies. These measures reduced the gross non-performing asset ratio to 0.96 percent, down from 1.03 percent a year earlier.
Following the earnings announcement, shares of the non-banking financial company rallied between 5 percent and 6 percent on the BSE and NSE on July 31, 2026. This surge contributed to an early rise in the Sensex and Nifty indices. Several brokerages adjusted their outlooks, with Motilal Oswal upgrading the stock to Buy with a target price of ₹1,300, Nomura maintaining a Buy rating at ₹1,140, and Nuvama raising its target to ₹1,175 while keeping a Hold rating.
