Sony Launches Xperia 10 VIII with Legacy Hardware

Sony launched the Xperia 10 VIII mid-range smartphone via a livestream on August 25, 2026. The device is scheduled for release in mid to late September and will be available in Frozen White, Frosted Grey, and Misty Lilac, with pricing set at €599 or £549.

The smartphone features a 6.1-inch FHD+ LTPS OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and runs Android 16, with a promise of up to four major OS updates. While the company claims a 50% increase in screen brightness and 30% stronger front-firing stereo speakers, the internal hardware remains largely unchanged from the Xperia 10 VII. The device utilizes the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor and 8GB of RAM reported in earlier leaks.

Other specifications include a dual camera system with a 50MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens, a 5,000 mAh battery with 30W charging, and 128GB of storage. Sony retained legacy hardware including a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD slot for expandable storage. The phone is expected to be available in Japan, the UK, and Germany, but will not be officially sold in the United States due to limited LTE band support and a lack of 5G certification for US carriers.
