Apple to Cut 147 Jobs Across South Bay Locations

Apple Inc. will eliminate 147 permanent positions across three South Bay locations on October 19. According to a WARN notice filed with the California Employment Development Department, the reductions include 79 jobs at the Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, 40 positions at 605 West Maude Ave. in Sunnyvale, and 28 jobs at 599 North Mathilda Ave. in Sunnyvale.

The layoffs primarily target software engineers, machine learning researchers, and tools and automation engineers. This move follows a June layoff of 57 positions in San Diego.

These cuts occur amid a broader decline in the regional technology sector. Beacon Economics estimates that 4,400 tech positions were lost in the Bay Area during July alone.
