Delhi High Court Orders Unblocking of Cockroach Janta Party X Account
The Delhi High Court ordered the Indian government to restore the Cockroach Janta Party's X account after the NEET re-test concluded.
The Delhi High Court ordered the Government of India to restore the X account of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on July 7, 2026. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma revoked a blocking order issued by the Union Government, ruling that the government's primary justification—preventing confusion and panic among students and parents before the June 21 NEET re-test—was no longer relevant now that the examination has concluded.
Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the government had no further objection to unblocking the account, which had been offline for over a month. The CJP was founded in May by Abhijeet Dipke as a satirical digital movement after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant compared unemployed youth to cockroaches. Dipke challenged the suspension, arguing that only specific objectionable posts should have been restricted rather than the entire account.
The legal victory coincided with a broader youth-driven movement criticizing unemployment and education policy. The CJP is currently campaigning for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. Alongside the legal battle, CJP members and the All India Students' Association have conducted sit-in protests and hunger strikes at Jantar Mantar, while activist Sonam Wangchuk has continued an indefinite fast.
