Jess Wilson Leads Coalition in Victorian Election Polls

Jess Wilson is campaigning to become Victoria's first female premier as recent polling shows the Coalition leading the Labor Party 52% to 48%.

Jess Wilson, the 36-year-old leader of the Victorian Liberal Party, is campaigning to become the first woman popularly elected as premier of Victoria in the November 28 election. A millennial MP and classical Liberal, Wilson is positioning herself to potentially become the state's youngest premier since federation.

Recent polling from DemosAu indicates the Coalition leads the Labor Party 52% to 48%. Wilson holds a personal rating of +8, while incumbent Premier Ben Carroll holds a rating of -14. To form a majority government, the Coalition needs 16 seats, which analysts estimate requires a statewide swing of approximately 7%.

Wilson's platform focuses on economic issues, crime, and corruption. Her proposed first 100 days in office include abolishing the emergency services levy, scrapping the state's treaty with First Peoples, and introducing stricter bail and youth justice laws. While she supports climate action and marriage equality, she has committed to expanding gas exploration and scrapping the VNI West transmission line.
