Tim Ashe Wins Democratic Primary for Vermont Auditor

Tim Ashe, the current Deputy State Auditor and former Vermont Senate President, won the Democratic primary for Vermont auditor of accounts on Tuesday. Early unofficial results show Ashe leading with 74% of the vote, significantly outpacing first-time candidate Nicholas Graeter, who received 15%.

Candidate Dan Towle received 9% of the vote despite having dropped out of the race prior to the primary. Graeter had centered his campaign on expanding public engagement, but was unable to close the gap with the experienced Ashe, who has served as deputy auditor since 2021.

Ashe will now advance to the November general election to succeed Doug Hoffer, the incumbent Democratic auditor who is not seeking reelection after more than a decade in office. In the general election, Ashe will face Republican candidate H. Brook Paige.
