Luca Niculescu Consults Parties to Form Romanian Government

Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu is meeting with parliamentary parties to finalize a cabinet list and government program for submission to Parliament this Thursday.

Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu is conducting a series of consultations with parliamentary parties to form a new Romanian government. On Monday, Niculescu is scheduled to meet with leaders from the Save Romania Union, the Parliamentary Group of National Minorities, the PACE - Romania First Group, and the United for Romania Parliamentary Group.

He has already held discussions with the Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party, and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania. The Social Democratic Party expressed a desire for a committed majority without requesting specific government positions. Meanwhile, the National Liberal Party and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania indicated they would vote for the government's investiture despite declining to join the Cabinet.

Niculescu intends to submit the government programme and the list of proposed ministers to Parliament on Thursday. This timeline falls within the 10-day deadline established by the decree published in the Official Journal of Romania on Tuesday.
