ADC Dissolves Kano State Executive Amid Leadership Dispute

The African Democratic Congress dissolved its Kano State executive and appointed a caretaker committee, a move rejected by state party chairman Musa Ungogo.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) dissolved its Kano State executive committee and established a caretaker committee to address a leadership vacuum and restore party stability. Deputy National Chairman (North-West) Najaatu Mohammed announced the transition during a press conference on Monday, appointing Alhaji Umar Bala as chairman and Isma’il Musa as secretary. Mohammed stated the move aligns with the party's constitution and the Electoral Act, describing the transition as an administrative necessity to heal divisions.

The national leadership also ruled out governorship aspirant Ibrahim Khalil, citing his alleged loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which conflicts with the party's support for Atiku Abubakar. Mohammed warned that factional disputes could prevent the ADC from becoming a credible political alternative in Nigeria.

Kano State ADC Chairman Musa Ungogo rejected the dissolution, calling the claims false and unconstitutional. Ungogo asserted that the national leadership had not communicated such a decision to the state wing and maintained that the existing executive remains the authentic authority in Kano.
