NVIDIA Raises Shield TV Pro Price to $299.99

NVIDIA increased the price of the Shield TV Pro and discontinued the standard model due to rising component costs.

NVIDIA increased the price of the Shield TV Pro to $299.99 on October 2, marking a $100 rise from its original $199.99 price point. Simultaneously, the company discontinued production of the standard Shield TV model to focus exclusively on the Pro variant.

The company attributed the price hike to a substantial industry-wide increase in the cost of components, specifically DRAM and memory, which it linked to the AI data center rush. Despite the higher cost, the Shield TV Pro retains its original specifications, including the Tegra X1 SoC, 3 GB of memory, and 16 GB of storage.

While the device continues to support 4K HDR and AI-enhanced upscaling, critics note that the hardware remains capped at Android 11, trailing behind the latest Android TV software releases.
