Sokoto State Launches 2027 Budget Town Hall Meetings
The Sokoto State Government began zonal town hall meetings in Bodinga to gather citizen input for the 2027 budget.
The Sokoto State Government launched the Southern Zonal Town Hall Meeting in Bodinga to initiate preparations for the 2027 budget. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Bashir Muhammad Achida announced that these consultations will extend to all Local Government Areas to increase transparency and citizen participation in the planning process.
Dr. Achida noted that previous consultations for the 2026 budget led to the execution or near-completion of most citizen demands. In response to the initiative, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly Tukur Bala Bodinga pledged that the legislature would provide prompt consideration of the 2027 budget once it is presented.
The program received support from traditional leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria. Officials from these groups urged residents to present impactful development priorities to improve living conditions across the state.
