The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic reported that the harmonized index of consumer prices slowed to 3.5 percent year-on-year in June. This figure represents the lowest inflation level in 18 months, following a 4.0 percent increase in May and trailing only the 3.2 percent growth recorded in December 2024.
On a monthly basis, the HICP decreased by 0.2 percent in June. The decline was driven by a significant drop in transportation inflation, which fell to 5.3 percent from 9.4 percent, and a 0.5 percent decline in the cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Despite the overall cooling trend, price growth for housing and utilities accelerated during the same period, rising from 9.3 percent to 9.7 percent.
