Pladis Pledges to Double Healthier Product Sales by 2030
Pladis aims to increase the sales volume of nutritionally balanced snacks from 10% to 20% by 2030 through product reformulation and new launches.
Pladis, the parent company of brands including McVitie’s, GODIVA, and Ülker, has pledged to double the sales volume of products with a better nutritional balance by 2030. These products, which currently account for 10% of total sales volume, are defined as having higher levels of protein and fiber alongside lower levels of sugar, salt, and saturated fat.
To reach the 20% target, the company will implement a global nutrition framework based on international systems such as France's Nutri-Score, the UK's Nutrient Profile Model, and Australia's Health Star Rating. This framework will guide the development of new products, the expansion of compliant ranges, and the reformulation of existing recipes. The initiative is a component of the company's "Happy People, Happy Planet" global sustainability strategy.
The shift responds to consumer trends toward health-led eating and "snackification," a movement partly driven by the rise of GLP-1 medications. The company has already seen success with its Ülker brand, which removed 549 tonnes of fat from its products over the last decade. Company leadership maintains that these nutritional improvements will not come at the expense of flavor, emphasizing that taste remains the primary priority for consumers.
