JPMorgan Chase Raises S&P 500 Forecast to 8,000
JPMorgan Chase & Co. raised its S&P 500 Index forecast to 8,000 points, citing strong corporate earnings and the monetization of AI investments.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. raised its S&P 500 Index forecast to 8,000 points, marking the second increase by the firm in two months. The updated projection exceeds the Bloomberg average of 7,845 points and aligns with bullish outlooks from other institutions including Citigroup Inc., Deutsche Bank AG, and Goldman Sachs Group Inc.
Strategists led by Dubravko Lakos-Bujas attributed the increase to strong corporate earnings and evidence that massive artificial intelligence capital expenditure is being monetized. The firm highlighted increased backlogs and accelerated cloud growth at Alphabet Inc., Amazon.com Inc., and Microsoft Corp. as primary indicators that AI spending is generating customer demand.
AI technology is expected to represent more than half of the total 1.5 trillion dollars in capital expenditure across the S&P 500 this year. The firm noted that as elevated backlogs convert into recognized revenue, cloud growth should remain well supported, validating the rising capital expenditures in the sector.
