NVIDIA Expands AI Partnerships With Mercedes-Benz and Volvo Cars
NVIDIA is expanding strategic partnerships with Mercedes-Benz and Volvo Cars to integrate advanced AI and accelerated computing into next-generation automated driving systems.
The NVIDIA Corporation has expanded strategic partnerships with Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Volvo Cars to develop next-generation automated driving systems. Both collaborations center on integrating NVIDIA's Hyperion in-vehicle computing architecture, the Halos safety stack, and the Alpamayo software stack to enable advanced driver assistance and future SAE-Level 4 applications.
Mercedes-Benz is integrating these technologies into its MB.OS operating system to support urban assistance, automated parking, and the development of robolimousines. The partnership also extends to the MO360 digital production ecosystem, where NVIDIA tools will be used for vehicle engineering simulation and virtual production planning to increase manufacturing efficiency.
Volvo Cars is leveraging the same AI architecture to move toward eyes-off and mind-off driving across highways and city traffic. This technology will debut in a forthcoming next-generation Volvo model as part of the company's largest product push to date. Volvo and NVIDIA have collaborated since 2017, previously deploying DRIVE Orin and DRIVE Xavier platforms in the EX90 SUV.
Executives from all three companies emphasized the synergy between automotive safety and AI. Mercedes-Benz CTO Jörg Burzer described NVIDIA as the company's most important strategic partner in automated driving, while Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson noted that the partnership combines industry-leading safety knowledge with world-class AI technology.
