Nubank Launches US Expansion Under Nu Brand
Nubank is expanding into the United States market as Nu, utilizing AI-driven credit cards and a Mercedes F1 partnership to attract customers.
Digital bank Nubank is expanding into the United States market under the brand name Nu. Following the opening of a U.S. branch in September, the Latin American firm is launching with credit cards rather than debit cards to build consumer trust and avoid the pitfalls of previous foreign fintech entries like N26 and Monzo.
Co-founder and U.S. CEO Cristina Junqueira stated that the company is leveraging artificial intelligence for product development, customer support, and credit underwriting. To increase brand visibility, the bank has partnered with the Mercedes F1 team for brand activations.
Despite market volatility in Brazil following the election of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the company reported one billion dollars in net income last quarter. Junqueira noted that the firm remains focused on fundamentals as it scales its operations beyond its existing presence in Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
