GitHub Integrates Anthropic Claude and OpenAI Codex into Agent HQ
GitHub integrated Claude and Codex AI agents into its Agent HQ feature, allowing developers to manage multiple AI assistants across GitHub and Visual Studio Code.
GitHub integrated third-party AI coding agents from Anthropic and OpenAI into its Agent HQ feature. This update allows developers with Copilot Pro+ or Copilot Enterprise subscriptions to access Claude and Codex agents directly within GitHub, GitHub Mobile, and Visual Studio Code.
GitHub Inc. enables developers to run multiple agents in parallel to compare responses and assign specific agents to issues and pull requests using @mentions. Users can manage these sessions from a centralized tab, with each session consuming one premium request during the current public preview phase.
Anthropic Head of Platform Katelyn Lesse stated that the integration allows Claude to commit code and comment on pull requests to help teams ship faster. OpenAI Product member Alexander Embiricos noted that the integration extends the power of Codex to millions more developers within their primary workspace.
Chief Product Officer Mario Alberto Rodríguez confirmed that GitHub is developing further collaborations with Google, Cognition, and xAI to introduce additional specialized agents to the platform.
