President Joseph Aoun Accuses Israel of Violating Framework Agreement
President Joseph Aoun met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy to denounce Israeli violations of a US-mediated agreement and seek regional support for Lebanon.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy in Baabda on Monday to address the instability in southern Lebanon. Aoun asserted that Israel has failed to comply with a US-mediated framework agreement signed on June 26, which required a gradual Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of the Lebanese army, and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
Aoun stated that Israel continues to occupy Lebanese territory and carry out daily violations in the south. He noted that while these actions hinder state objectives, they strengthen the resolve of the Lebanese people. Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to a diplomatic solution, describing it as less costly than the ongoing war that has displaced over 1.5 million residents since March 2.
Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy pledged the Arab League's political, economic, and social support for Lebanese institutions. He expressed readiness to mobilize financial and practical assistance from both Arab and Western nations and announced plans to visit southern Lebanon following repeated Israeli attacks. Fahmy stated the Arab League would intensify diplomatic efforts to support Lebanon's negotiations with Israel.
