Osun Political Leaders Demand IPAC National Committee Resignations

Political party leaders in Osun State have called for the immediate resignation of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) National Executive Committee. The demand follows a leadership crisis in the council's state chapter that began after former chairman Pastor Victor Akande's tenure expired in February 2026. A scheduled election on March 14 failed to occur due to the absence of presiding officials.

A faction of party chairmen, led by Dr. Tosin Odeyemi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, rejected a caretaker committee appointed by national leadership. This committee is headed by Odesola Oluseyi Titus, chairman of the Action Peoples Party. Odeyemi and his supporters described the appointment as illegal, biased, and unconstitutional.

The aggrieved group alleges that IPAC National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle and Secretary Maxwell Mgbudem bypassed local stakeholders and fabricated claims of political tension to avoid holding substantive elections. They have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to suspend its relationship with the Osun IPAC chapter until new leadership is elected before the August 15 governorship election.
