Kuwait and Saudi Arabia Condemn Iran-Backed Drone Attacks

The Cabinet of Kuwait and the Saudi Arabian government issued strong condemnations on July 28, 2026, following a series of drone strikes launched by Iran and its proxies. The Kuwaiti Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, labeled attacks on the Abdali border crossing as sinful aggression and a violation of international law. The government reaffirmed its right to self-defense under the UN Charter and denounced additional strikes targeting Jordan and petroleum facilities in Saudi Arabia.

Simultaneously, the Saudi Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, condemned strikes by Iran-backed militias in Yemen and Iraq. These attacks targeted commercial vessels in the Red Sea and critical oil infrastructure in the Riyadh Region and Eastern Province. The Saudi government vowed to respond decisively according to the principle of proportionality and urged Iraq to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for such hostilities.

Diplomatic efforts followed the escalations, with Mohammed bin Salman briefing his cabinet on calls with the leaders of Kuwait, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom to reduce regional tensions and secure navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. Kuwait also reviewed expressions of solidarity from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Saudi Crown Prince regarding the security and sovereignty of Kuwait.
