Alaska Election Commission Probes Repeal Now Finance Complaints

The Alaska Public Offices Commission is investigating campaign finance complaints against Repeal Now for alleged fraudulent addresses and missing ad disclaimers.

The Alaska Public Offices Commission is investigating campaign finance and disclosure complaints filed against Repeal Now, a political group seeking to remove the state's open primary and ranked choice voting system via a November 2026 ballot measure. The complaints allege the organization filed inaccurate reports and utilized a fraudulent address for its primary donor, the Aurora Action Network, within advertising disclaimers.

Attorney Scott Kendall, representing supporters of the current election system, argues that the Aurora Action Network is based in Wisconsin. In response, Repeal Now attorney Craig Richards maintains that any inaccuracies were honest filing mistakes, asserting that the donor's operations are centered in Anchorage.

The commission has ordered the group to remove YouTube videos that lack the required disclaimers and has scheduled additional proceedings for August. This legal conflict follows a previous 2024 repeal attempt that ended with fines for what regulators described as egregious and widespread violations.
