Archer Aviation and ITA Airways Partner for Italian Air Taxis
Archer Aviation Inc. and ITA Airways signed an agreement to develop an all-electric air taxi network across major Italian cities using Midnight aircraft.
Archer Aviation Inc. and ITA Airways signed an agreement on October 29, 2026, to develop an all-electric air taxi network across major Italian cities. The partnership will utilize Archer's Midnight aircraft to replace long ground commutes with zero-emission flights, potentially reducing travel time from Rome Fiumicino Airport to the city center from one hour to under 10 minutes.
As Italy's flag carrier and a member of the Lufthansa Group, ITA Airways becomes the first European airline to join Archer's global partner network. The airline intends to integrate the air taxi service into its existing operations to create a seamless customer journey. Meanwhile, Archer continues its commercialization efforts in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement remains conditional upon the execution of definitive contracts. Joerg Eberhart, CEO of ITA Airways, stated the partnership is a step in assessing how electric air taxi services can complement the airline's network and enhance connections between airports and strategic destinations.
