Yemeni Army Launches Dawn of Yemen Offensive to Retake Sanaa
The Yemeni army launched the Dawn of Yemen offensive, claiming significant territorial gains and Houthi casualties in Taiz and strategic coastal areas.
The Government of Yemen launched the Dawn of Yemen offensive to end Houthi control and retake the capital city of Sanaa. As part of the operation, government forces and popular resistance fighters executed five operations across the Al-Arbaeen, Al-Aqroudh, Al-Anin, Jabal Habashi, and Al-Bireen fronts in Taiz Governorate.
In Taiz, the military drove Houthi fighters from Al-Aqroudh and entered the Shuraira area in Al-Wazi'iyah, where they blocked the Rasin road. Local residents ambushed retreating Houthi columns in Al-Buraiha and Bani Bakari, where more than 50 vehicles were reported to have withdrawn. The Taiz Military Axis reported killing approximately 100 Houthi fighters, wounding 150 others, and shooting down five drones. Government forces also claimed to have recaptured the coastal city of Mokha, the strategic Bab el-Mandeb area, and several other positions including Jabal al-Manzara and Dhiban.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree rejected these claims of battlefield losses, asserting that the group maintains its positions. Saree stated that the militia has instead launched dozens of attacks against Saudi forces in the Al-Jawf and Marib provinces.
