EPA Proposes Biofuel Reallocation to Support American Farmers
The Environmental Protection Agency proposed reallocating lost biofuel volumes into 2026 and 2027 blending obligations to restore demand for corn and soy-based fuels.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency announced a proposal to reallocate 100% of biofuel volumes lost through small refinery exemptions into blending obligations for 2026 and 2027. This action follows the largest breaks from blending mandates for refiners in nearly a decade, which had previously reduced the demand for soy- and corn-based fuels.
By requiring oil refiners to blend more biofuels through next year to compensate for these exemptions, the Trump administration intends to restore market demand and provide an economic boost for American farmers.
