Discover Airlines Launches Direct Flights to Glasgow and Inverness

Discover Airlines, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, will expand its presence in Scotland in 2027 with the launch of direct flight services from Glasgow and Inverness to Germany. The airline will first establish connectivity at Glasgow Airport, starting a service to Frankfurt on March 29, 2027, with flights operating up to six times per week. This will be followed by a twice-weekly summer route to Munich beginning May 16, 2027.

In addition to the Glasgow routes, the airline will launch its first service to Inverness Airport on June 19, 2027. These weekly Saturday flights to Frankfurt will run until September 11, creating the only nonstop connection between the two cities. The Inverness expansion follows a 7% increase in passenger numbers at the airport and a separate plan by Aer Lingus Regional to double its flights to Dublin.

Officials from AGS Airports and the Glasgow City Council stated the new routes will strengthen trade and tourism links with Germany, which remains Scotland's largest European inbound visitor market. Dan Mason, the Inverness Airport Manager, noted the service provides a convenient option for visitors to reach the Highlands, while Discover Airlines executives highlighted growing demand for destinations offering nature and outdoor exploration.
