Assam Veterans Donate ₹25 Lakh for Flood Relief Efforts

Ex-servicemen in Assam donated ₹25 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund on July 30, 2026, to aid rehabilitation and relief operations for those affected by devastating floods, specifically in Upper Assam.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, received the donation from representatives of the veterans' fraternity. The cheque was presented by Brigadier Polash Chowdhury, Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, along with retired Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita and retired Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi.

Beyond the monetary contribution, numerous ex-servicemen have voluntarily joined the civil administration to assist with active relief operations across the state. Chief Minister Sarma thanked the veterans for their patriotism and service, noting that the gesture would encourage others to support humanitarian initiatives. Brigadier Chowdhury stated that the donation symbolized the veterans' continued sense of duty and commitment to the people of Assam during challenging times.
