Dangote Refinery Cuts LPG Prices Amid Import Surge

Dangote Refinery and depot operators reduced liquefied petroleum gas prices in Nigeria following a 1,400 percent surge in cooking gas imports during June.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals Fze lowered its liquefied petroleum gas gantry price by N30 to N950 per kilogram, triggering a series of price reductions across Nigeria's midstream sector. Depot operators and marketers, including 11PLC, NAVGAS, Ranoil, and PPMC, responded by cutting their ex-depot prices to a range between N955 and N960 per kilogram.

These adjustments follow data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority showing a 1,400 percent surge in cooking gas imports during June. Despite the upstream price drops, retail costs remain high. Filling stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Ranoil, and Shafa continue to sell gas between N1,300 and N1,450 per kilogram.

Other retailers in Abuja have maintained prices at N1,500 per kilogram, a rate unchanged since July 2026. This creates a significant price gap between the reduced depot costs and the final prices paid by consumers at the pump.
