Australia Services Sector Hits Six-Month Growth Peak in July
Australia's services sector expanded at its fastest pace in six months during July, driven by a surge in new orders across multiple industries.
Australia's services sector experienced its fastest expansion in six months during July, according to the S&P Global Australia Services PMI, which climbed to 53.6 from June's 50.5. This growth followed a renewed rise in total new orders for the first time in five months, with significant gains recorded in business services, real estate, and the information and communication sectors.
S&P Global Market Intelligence reported that the Composite Output Index, which aggregates services and manufacturing, also reached its fastest expansion rate since January at 53.2. While employment and work backlogs grew, new business from abroad continued to drop as tourism numbers declined.
Economic indicators showed a mixed inflationary environment. Input cost inflation slowed to a five-month low, but output price inflation increased as firms attempted to rebuild margins. Business confidence returned to its highest level since February, though analysts warn that geopolitical instability in the Middle East and persistent inflationary pressures may hinder future growth.
