Laura Kuenssberg Details Misconduct by UK Politicians in Memoir
BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg describes inappropriate encounters with government ministers and peers in her new book, Pay Attention.
BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg detailed several inappropriate and uncomfortable encounters with political figures in her memoir, Pay Attention. In interviews with The Times and within the book, she describes visiting a government minister's hotel room during a party conference, where she found the man sprawled on a bed with his shirt partially undone. When asked if the minister and his partner were seeking a threesome, Kuenssberg stated, "maybe they were and maybe they weren’t," and characterized the experience as "very uncomfortable."
Kuenssberg recounted other instances of misconduct, including a married government minister who groped her during a trip to the theatre, a former minister who frequently kissed her on the head, and a peer who sent her a "creepy text" regarding her television attire. While she detailed these events to highlight the vulnerability of young people starting careers in Westminster, she stated she will not reveal the identities of the individuals involved.
Beyond these allegations, the memoir addresses the polarized state of British politics and Kuenssberg's interviews with prime ministers Boris Johnson and Keir Starmer. She also describes the severe online abuse and physical threats she faced during her tenure as BBC political editor, which required the organization to provide her with bodyguards.
