Rajasthan Chief Minister Urges Japan-India Jewellery Trade Partnership
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma met a Japanese delegation in Jaipur to promote industrial investment and technology collaboration in the gem and jewellery sector.
Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, met with a Japanese delegation in Jaipur on August 23, 2026, to discuss industrial growth and investment. During the meeting, Sharma urged the Jaipur Jewellery Association and the Yamanashi Jewellery Association to collaborate on technology and investment to expand the gem and jewellery trade and increase employment opportunities.
Sharma highlighted the state's designated Japanese Zone and invited further investment, stating that Japanese companies have seen high returns in Rajasthan. He emphasized the potential for strategic partnerships to modernize the trade.
Yuichi Higuchi, the Mayor of Kofu City, praised the investor-friendly policies of the state. Higuchi noted that 180 Japanese companies currently operate in Rajasthan, while approximately 60 Jaipur-based companies operate in Kofu City.
