UBS AI Deployment Slowed by Credit Suisse Integration

UBS Chief Executive Sergio Ermotti says the integration of Credit Suisse delayed AI deployment, though the bank has now put 560 AI use cases into production.

Sergio Ermotti, Chief Executive of UBS, announced that the integration of Credit Suisse slowed the bank's deployment of artificial intelligence. Speaking at an event at ETH Zurich on October 27, Ermotti stated that the bank can now shift its focus more toward technology as it nears its year-end target to substantially complete the integration process.

The integration began following the June 2023 acquisition and is currently in its final phase. As of June 30, 2026, the bank had fully decommissioned approximately 70% of designated Credit Suisse IT applications.

Despite the integration delays, UBS reported significant growth in AI adoption. The bank had 560 use cases in production as of July 29, 2026, representing a 92% increase over the previous year, with more than 920 additional applications in development. Ermotti also clarified that UBS prohibits outside AI agents from entering the bank on behalf of clients.
