France Fines Infosys €175,000 Over Employee Time-Tracking Failures
Infosys was fined €175,000 by French labor authorities for failing to maintain a reliable and auditable employee working time recording system.
The French labor authority DRIEETS Île-de-France fined Infosys Ltd €175,000, approximately 2 crore rupees, for failing to comply with national legal requirements regarding employee working time recording. The regulator determined that the company's system lacked sufficient reliability, auditability, and monitoring capabilities for certain employee categories, which are necessary to track the statutory 35-hour workweek, overtime, and mandated rest periods.
Infosys received notification of the penalty on July 24, 2026, and subsequently disclosed the event in regulatory filings to the BSE, National Stock Exchange, and New York Stock Exchange on July 25 and July 27. The company explained that the timing of these disclosures was due to the period required to verify the information and determine the appropriate course of action.
Infosys stated that the fine will have no material impact on its financial position, operations, or other business activities.
