INEC Confirms Sandy Ojang Onor as PDP Presidential Candidate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the list of presidential and National Assembly candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 general elections. The official list confirms Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor as the presidential candidate and Alhaji Babangida Umar as his running mate.

Party leadership described the publication as a vindication that ends months of speculation and misinformation regarding the party's ability to field a ticket following internal legal and leadership disputes. National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Haruna Mohammed stated the development settles doubts about the party's future and halts propaganda claiming the PDP would fail to field a candidate.

National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara and National Secretary Samuel N. Anyanwu expressed appreciation to the judiciary and INEC for upholding the rule of law. To strengthen its electoral prospects, the PDP leadership has called for internal reconciliation and welcomed defectors to the party.
