Crimea Bans Night Motorbikes to Detect Ukrainian Drones

Crimean authorities banned nighttime motorbike use to aid drone detection as Ukrainian forces successfully intercepted a Russian Sokol-I anti-aircraft drone.

Crimean Governor Sergei Aksenov signed a decree banning the use of motorbikes, mopeds, and scooters between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The measure aims to eliminate vehicle noise that interferes with the ability of mobile firefighting teams to identify Ukrainian drones, as electronic warfare systems have reportedly become ineffective against long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Russian police have already impounded dozens of vehicles and issued over a hundred fines to enforce the restriction. The move comes amid escalating aerial warfare in the region, where both sides are deploying specialized drone technology to secure airspace.

In a related development, the Ukrainian 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade used a General Cherry AIR interceptor drone to shoot down a Russian Sokol-I anti-aircraft drone for the first time. The Sokol-I was specifically developed by Russia to combat Ukrainian reconnaissance and strike UAVs. Ukrainian officials stated that the successful interception demonstrates the effectiveness of their own interceptor drone technology.
