SalMar ASA Acquires 70% Stake in Måsøval for Nkr3.4 Billion
SalMar ASA agreed to acquire a 70% stake in salmon producer Måsøval AS from Heimstø AS to expand its aquaculture presence in Central Norway.
The Norwegian salmon processor SalMar ASA has entered into an agreement with family-owned investment firm Heimstø AS to acquire approximately 70% of the share capital of Måsøval AS. SalMar will purchase 85,727,553 shares at a price of NOK 39.50 per share, totaling approximately NOK 3.4 billion. This transaction values the entire share capital of Måsøval at roughly NOK 4.84 billion.
Payment for the acquisition consists of cash and 733,906 newly issued SalMar shares, which represent 10% of the sale price. Heimstø retains an option to sell these shares back to SalMar at the same price per share within 12 months of the deal's completion. Following the closing, SalMar intends to offer minority shareholders in Måsøval the option to sell their shares at the same valuation.
CEO Frode Arntsen characterized the move as an industrial opportunity to strengthen the company's position in Central Norway, specifically around Frøya. The acquisition aims to improve resource utilization and innovation in aquaculture. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
