Bank of America Expands Physical Network Into Three States
Bank of America opened its first Wisconsin financial centers and announced upcoming expansions into Alabama and Louisiana as part of a $5 billion investment in physical branches.
Bank of America opened its first financial centers in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as part of a strategy to establish 19 centers across the state by 2030. The Wisconsin expansion is expected to create nearly 130 new jobs. The bank also announced plans to enter Alabama in the first quarter of 2027 with 10 centers in Birmingham and Huntsville, followed by eight centers in Greater New Orleans, Louisiana, in the second half of 2027.
These moves are part of a $5 billion investment in the bank's physical network since 2016. The institution intends to open approximately 50 new centers annually to extend its physical reach to roughly 83% of the U.S. population. This growth continues despite 95% of client interactions now occurring digitally.
Executives stated the expansion focuses on providing in-person expertise for complex financial needs. CEO Brian Moynihan noted that while digital banking is common, clients still prefer sitting down with a trusted advisor for major life events like buying a home or planning for retirement. Holly O'Neill described the modernized centers as places for personalized guidance, while Drew Slocum said the Wisconsin presence allows the bank to deepen local community relationships.
