Garmin Launches Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro Smartwatches

Garmin announced the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro outdoor smartwatches featuring AMOLED displays, titanium cases, and extended battery life with pre-orders starting August 28.

Garmin Ltd. unveiled the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro high-end outdoor smartwatches during its Play Harder live event on August 25, 2026. The new lineup introduces significant hardware upgrades, including 64GB of internal storage and 50% more RAM, which supports a mapping engine 30% faster than the previous generation and a new perspective view mode.

Both models feature AMOLED displays twice as bright as the Fenix 8 and a dive rating of 40 meters. The Fenix 9 starts at $999.99 and uses a fiber-reinforced polymer case. The Fenix 9 Pro, starting at $1,099.99, introduces the first full titanium case in the Fenix line, created via nano-molding technology. The 51mm Pro variant features the company's largest display at 1.5 inches with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

Battery performance varies by configuration, with the 51mm Fenix 9 lasting up to 29 days and the 51mm Fenix 9 Pro AMOLED reaching 31 days. Solar-charging Pro models can extend battery life up to 57 days. Select Pro models also include inReach satellite and LTE connectivity for emergency assistance via the Garmin Response coordination center.

Software updates include Garmin Epic, a feature for grouping multiple activities into a single adventure, and enhanced stamina tracking with personalized zones and a visual curve. Pre-orders for the 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm sizes begin on August 28.
