The Government of Pakistan approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers to secure by-elections in two Punjab constituencies from November 7 to 9.

The Government of Pakistan approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers to provide security for by-elections in two Punjab constituencies scheduled from November 7 to 9. The decision follows a formal request from the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure peaceful polling on November 8.

The security operation focuses on National Assembly constituency NA-77 in Gujranwala and Punjab Assembly constituency PP-203 in Sahiwal. The Ministry of Interior issued the notification formalizing the deployment plan to maintain order during the voting process.

Under the established security framework, the Pakistan Rangers will serve as a second-tier response force, while the Pakistan Army will act as a third-tier response force. Both units will remain on standby as quick-response forces to address potential disruptions.
