Houthis Attack Yemen Port and Saudi Aramco Refinery

The Houthi group launched a series of coordinated ballistic missile and drone attacks on Sunday targeting the strategic port city of Mocha in Yemen and a Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. In Mocha, the strikes killed seven people, including four troops and three civilians, and caused severe damage to commercial quays, piers, and storage facilities. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed the operations targeted Saudi-backed troop gatherings and weapons depots, while the internationally recognized Yemeni government emphasized that the strikes hit vital civilian facilities.

In Jazan, the Saudi Energy Ministry confirmed that firefighting teams extinguished a fire at the Aramco refinery, reporting no injuries. The Houthis stated the refinery strike was retaliation for Saudi drone incursions into Saada and Hajjah. These escalations follow a recent defense pact signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan to strengthen collective deterrence, as well as a Houthi-imposed maritime ban on Saudi-linked shipping in the Red Sea.
