President Droupadi Murmu Visits Odisha for University Opening and Prayers

President Droupadi Murmu began a three-day official visit to Odisha on August 3 to inaugurate a university and visit the Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine.

President Droupadi Murmu began a three-day official visit to Odisha on August 3, 2026, with a schedule spanning Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Ganjam. After arriving at Biju Patnaik International Airport, she traveled to Damapada in Cuttack to inaugurate Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj University.

On August 4, the President traveled by special train from Bhubaneswar to Berhampur, a transit method selected following rain forecasts from the India Meteorological Department. While in Ganjam, she is scheduled to offer prayers at the Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine in Taptapani, accompanied by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. She will stay overnight at the Army AD College in Gopalpur before returning to Bhubaneswar on August 5 to depart for New Delhi via Indian Air Force aircraft.

To secure the tour, the state administration deployed approximately 40 police platoons and 150 officers, including the Special Tactical Unit and Special Technical Group. Security measures coordinated by the Odisha Police and central agencies included the establishment of no-flying zones in Ganjam and extensive personnel deployments across the Cuttack, Khurda, and Ganjam districts.
