Election Commission Rejects Dharamvira Gandhi's Voter Roll Claims

The Election Commission of India confirmed that MP Dharamvira Gandhi and his family are registered on Punjab's draft electoral roll, dismissing claims of their omission.

The Election Commission of India rejected claims made by Congress leader and Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi that his name and those of four family members were missing from the draft electoral roll published on August 13, 2026. In a formal statement, the commission confirmed that Gandhi, his wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, and son are all registered as electors in the Patiala Assembly constituency.

This dispute emerged during a Special Intensive Revision exercise conducted ahead of the February 2027 Assembly elections. The incident is part of a broader pattern of complaints regarding the revision process in Punjab. BJP MP Raghav Chadha accused the Aam Aadmi Party of political vendetta after he was marked as shifted in the rolls, while former diplomat Navdeep Suri reported difficulties establishing his citizenship during the same process.
