Phillips 66 Reports Record $5.62 Billion Third-Quarter Profit
Phillips 66 reported record third-quarter net income of $5.62 billion driven by wide refining margins and global fuel supply disruptions.
Phillips 66 reported record third-quarter net income of $5.62 billion, significantly exceeding Wall Street estimates with an adjusted profit of $14.08 per share. The company attributed this performance to historically wide refining margins caused by global fuel supply disruptions linked to conflicts in Iran and Ukraine.
Operational advantages contributed to the results, including strong distillate yields of 41% and a strategic freight advantage from locking in time-chartered vessels at rates below current market levels. Other U.S. refiners, including Valero Energy and HF Sinclair, also posted record quarterly profits due to the same supply crunch.
The company is moving forward with several infrastructure projects. The Coastal Bend expansion project remains on track for initial volumes in the fourth quarter, and Phillips 66 is proceeding with a $5 billion Western Gateway Pipeline system joint venture alongside Kinder Morgan and HF Sinclair.
