Ondo APC Aspirants Sue INEC Over Primary Results
Loyalists of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa have filed a lawsuit to prevent the All Progressives Congress from altering National Assembly candidate lists for the 2027 elections.
Aspirants loyal to Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, have filed a lawsuit against the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The plaintiffs, including Gbenga Elegbeleye and Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, are challenging the results of the National Assembly primaries and seeking to prevent the party from substituting candidates before the 2027 general elections.
The legal action alleges that the APC attempted to alter the list of validly nominated candidates that had been submitted to INEC on June 29, 2026. This move follows a legal precedent in a similar dispute in Benue State, where Justice I.E. Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the APC and INEC to maintain the status quo regarding candidate lists.
APC stakeholders have expressed concern that these judicial interventions may disrupt the party's general election preparations and deepen internal divisions within the organization.
