Three Oyo State Officials Resign From Governor Makinde's Cabinet
Three high-ranking appointees resigned from Governor Seyi Makinde's administration on November 2, citing political shifts and an unconducive working environment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Three high-ranking appointees of Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde resigned from the Oyo State government on November 2, 2026. The departing officials include Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning; Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning; and Sunday Olugbenga Falana, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission.
While Ojo and Falana expressed gratitude for their service without disclosing specific reasons for their exits, Oyeleke stated he was no longer comfortable with the working environment. He described the atmosphere as unconducive to effectively pursuing and fulfilling the aspirations of his people within the administration.
These departures follow a pattern of recent cabinet exits, including former Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi and former Due Process Office Director-General Tara Adefope. Additionally, Jimoh Idowu, the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, resigned from the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
Yinka Oladoyinbo, representing the governor's campaign council, dismissed the impact of these resignations on the APM's prospects for the 2027 general elections. Oladoyinbo characterized the movement of politicians as a transfer market and asserted that the election is about the people of Oyo rather than politicians alone.
