Haleon Boosts Sales Targeting GLP-1 Weight-Loss Drug Users
Haleon increased U.S. sales by placing side-effect treatments in curated retail sections for users of GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
Haleon increased its United States sales by targeting patients using GLP-1 weight-loss medications, including Zepbound from Eli Lilly and Wegovy from Novo Nordisk. The company implemented a dual placement strategy to address common medication side effects such as abdominal pain, constipation, and nausea.
Under this strategy, Haleon positions products like TUMS and Advil in both standard pharmacy aisles and specialized GLP-1 destination sets. This approach generated an average 24% sales lift per store during the first quarter of the year.
Haleon currently maintains the majority of GLP-1 shelf space at CVS Pharmacy, which expanded its over-the-counter assortment to help patients manage side effects. Following the results at CVS, Haleon has begun discussions with Target and Walmart to expand the in-store placement strategy to other major retailers.
