Anthropic Signs $10 Billion AI Compute Deal in Norway

Anthropic has entered into a $10 billion, six-year contract with Volta Infra Holdings to secure AI computing capacity at a new data center in Tydal, Norway. The facility will be managed by Bitdeer and will operate using 100% renewable hydropower.

Hardware for the site will be provided by Dell Technologies and will feature Nvidia Vera Rubin chips. To support the operation, Bitdeer signed a colocation lease with Volta valued at approximately $4.7 billion over 16 years, with an extension option that could raise the total value to $8 billion over 24 years.

The project is scheduled for delivery in two phases, with target commencement dates of December 31, 2026, and March 31, 2027. Financial obligations for the infrastructure are supported by a $1.3 billion credit backstop expected to be arranged by J.P. Morgan and another global financial institution.
